artist statement

Capturing the beauty of flora, fauna, and natural environments is my goal as an artist. My artwork's purpose is to inspire people to make meaningful connections with the nature around them.

When I paint animals, I reflect on their relationship to the ecosystems we share with them. I am especially drawn to depicting small creatures. I find these “small creatures” most compelling to paint because they often go unnoticed by people. I bring attention to unseen animals so that they can be seen in a beautiful light.

 

Plant life is what inspires me to create landscapes. I am inspired by the growth formation of plants and how they overlap and intertwine to create a landscape. I find joy in getting to study and share small, hidden, magical moments in nature.
